Pre-register now for the eighth annual Richmond Youth Peace Summit, Saturday, April 28. This year’s Summit will be held at Northminster Baptist Church, 3121 Moss Side Avenue Richmond, VA 23222, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to young people ages 12-19, free of charge. Lunch will be provided. Participants are asked to arrive by 9:30. This free summit promotes teen leadership, nonviolent conflict resolution, social justice and positive self-expression. Participants can register online (preferred method) by emailing rypp@rpec.org, or by visiting www.rpec.org. Advanced registration is required. Morning and afternoon workshops offer a variety of topics of interest to teens. The summit also features a midday performance by talented local youth.

In Chinese, "Chi" means vital energy and "Kung" means work, so "Chi Kung" is about working on one's vital energy.
Participants will learn basic principles and concepts of Chi Kung and a number of basic Chi Kung exercises that incorporate the mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, participants will learn how Chi Kung can be important for middle-aged and older adults in maintaining their well-being. After completing this class, participants may join a more advanced class that further develops one's practice and knowledge of Chi Kung. Classes are for ages 43+

The training is open to community members and educators who wish to learn conflict resolution techniques for their own purposes, for use in the classroom, or to become a facilitator in the RPEC conflict resolution team.
The fee for the weekend training is $150, which includes a manual. A limited number of partial scholarships are available. To be certified to lead workshops for RPEC, new facilitators must complete an apprenticeship process after taking the training.
