Core Strength is a crucial, but sometimes overlooked, component of yoga practice. Developing awareness and strength of your core enlivens practice not only at the physical level, but also supports yoga practitioners in discovering and remembering internal strengths.
In this Vinyasa flow workshop, we’ll playfully explore engaging the core, using bandhas, and will visit both the Solar plexus and second chakras. As we practice core-specific poses, prone backbends, standing balances, and arm balances, we will focus on building self-confidence and unlocking innate potential.
Whether you to commit to gaining core strength as an adjunct to your 2012 fitness goals, to deepen your poses, or both, we will have fun practicing together! Participants will learn tools that will benefit practice and can be employed the next time you are on the mat.
Susan studied with many respected Vinyasa teachers and has taught Core-focused Vinyasa Flow yoga since the mid-nineties. Deeply passionate about Core style yoga, Susan has been instrumental in conceptualizing and implementing a popular local Core program. Her energy, enthusiasm, and humor, will guide you through a dynamic practice that is much more than a workout. Susan believes that every practice is a journey and that strong practice leads to especially deep relaxation.
6 months to 1 year of yoga practice is recommended. Modifications and variations will be demonstrated.
