Watching Out for Our Water

Dr. Pamela Hamilton-Stubbs has written a new book, What’s in Your Drinking Water and How to Make it Safer, exploring hot topics on water quality and safety. She is board certified in sleep medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Sleep Medicine.

“From the Flint, Michigan water crisis, where unsuspecting parents gave their children water contaminated with illegal amounts of lead to the indigenous Americans at Standing Rock Sioux protesting the possibility of future water contamination by a leaking oil pipeline, there are reasons to look closely at what’s in your water,” states Hamilton-Stubbs.

“During my research for this book, I learned that the EPA [U.S. Environmental Protection Agency] allows low levels of carcinogenic contaminants in our water supply, and that it is nearly impossible for municipalities to remove all parasites, bacteria and other types of live organisms from our water.” The books addresses affordable options to improve water quality, types of water and the agencies that monitor water quality.
