Virginia sits in a critical position along the Atlantic Coast for birds. 481 species have been identified in the state with 214 actively breeding. Twenty five percent of these breeding species are wholly or nearly confined to water or water associated habitats. The James River provides critical habitat and is a demarcation point between mid-Atlantic and southern habitats.

They will also address what we expect to see happening to the birds in our watershed over the next 20 years.
