YogaHikes Takes Yoga for a Walk

YogaHikes is a new concept in holistic wellness that combines mindful outdoor hiking with a rejuvenating yoga practice. It is also a unique opportunity to explore and learn more about Richmond. Both the hiking and yoga elements are led by Liz Malaugh, a certified yoga instructor with 10 years of teaching experience. Malaugh’s carefully planned outdoor hikes lead participants through local parks, historic areas, nearby wineries and museums. The hikes are followed by an intermediate level yoga practice influenced by two yoga traditions, vinyasa and raja. All YogaHikes end with mindfulness-based meditation, leaving participants feeling refreshed, renewed and less stressed.

YogaHikes was inspired by Hiking Yoga, the brain-child of Eric Kipp (HikingYoga.com). Combining yoga and hiking offers all the benefits of strength training, cardio fitness, toning and flexibility. In addition, outdoor exercise has proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression and increase one’s ability to concentrate and heal.
