Meditation and Writing at Burgundie’s

Dec 01, 2025 02:06AM ● By Catherine Atienza
Burgundie Miceli will host guided meditation and related writing exercises from 2 to 4 p.m., December 13 and 27, at Burgundy’s Wine Shop. No experience is necessary with either meditation or writing.

She has owned yoga studios, held a message therapy license, recently earned a masters degree in creative non-fiction and says, “Meditation is simple: focus. This can be focusing on walking, breathing, sitting, cutting vegetables and on and on. Simple doesn’t always mean easy. So many things are vying for our attention. Social media, family, politics, finances, the job, traffic, etc. Your body and brain need a break. Taking a break, however, can be uncomfortable if you’re not used to being still, not ‘doing something’, not being ‘productive’, and being quiet.”

In these workshops, Miceli leads everyone in easily accessible meditation practices, followed by or involving a writing exercise because writing can be a form of meditation, too. Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and reduce inflammation to improve sleep, cognition, digestion and decrease pain.

Admission is free. Location: 412 N. Sycamore St., Petersburg. Register at BurgundiesPlace.com/events.
