Natural Awakenings Richmond

43rd Street Gallery Transforms into a Community Clay Space

The 43rd Street Gallery, a Richmond destination for fine crafts for more than 35 years, will close its doors in January 2023. Robin Cage, potter and owner, is passing on the building and studio to Joanna Gragnani, a local potter who will keep the clay focus alive. The new 43rd Street Studios will become a dedicated ceramic space focusing on community and collaboration, with open studio spaces and classes. Robin will have a small studio in the back to continue making and firing her pots. The 43rd Street Festival of the Arts and neighborhood popup shows will continue.

Cage is busy making and firing pots for the annual Holiday Open House between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There will be a 50 percent close-out sale on December 29, 30 and 31, before the gallery closes.

"This time is bittersweet", Robin said, "I cannot express my appreciation enough to all who have wished me well in this transition and next creative endeavors".
