The Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) will conduct a Recycling Fair & Circularity Celebration on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., October 18, as a “one-stop drop” for several kinds of waste and recycling needs. It is open to anyone in central Virginia.
The goal is to promote sustainability and build community engagement in circular economy practices by providing accessible opportunities for proper recycling and donation. Attendees will be able to recycle electronics safely and donate textiles.
This event encourages recycling and reuse, reducing waste in landfills and offers residents hands-on ways to participate in sustainability. Document shredding and safe handling of electronics helps with privacy and e-waste concerns.
Shredding is limited to three paper bags or three boxes of personal documents per vehicle. No binders or paper clips. Staples OK. Papers shredded at the event will be recycled.
Household electronics are accepted such as TVs, DVD players, VCRs, computers, laptops, cellphones, cameras, gaming systems, printers, scanners, holiday lights, cords, cables and more. Alkaline batteries, light bulbs, items containing Freon, thermostats and microwave glass plates are not accepted.
Admission is free. Location: 2100 W. Laburnum Ave., Richmond. For more information, visit cvwma.com.
